Southern Lakes Discovery Trip
Treat yourself to 5 days of windsurfing on New Zealands famous High Country Lakes. We will be based in one location and explore the surrounding lakes. The aim is to windsurf, windfoil and wingfoil on as many different lakes / as many different spots as possible to give you an overview over this unique part of New Zealand.
There will be 2 different trips, one based in Queenstown, one based around Twizel.

What to expect
During the 5 days you are going to spend with us, we aim to introduce you to a new sailing spot every day (weather permitting). To keep your energy level up, we will also spoil you with superb food and an outstanding accommodation. We share time with you on the water, brief you in all the hazards and take professional action shots of you on the water.
There will be 2 different trips, one based in Queenstown (exploring Lake Wakatipu, Lake Wanaka and Lake Hawea mainly) and another one based around Twizel (exploring Lake Tekapo, Lake Pukaki, Lake Ohau, Lake Benmore and Lake Aviemore). You can either drive your own car and be fairly independent on what you do, or join us in our Water Nomads Explorer’s Bus and leave all the driving and gear transport to us.
If you don’t have the right gear or simply want to try something different let us know. Water Nomads can provide – by prior arrangement – board and gear rental on site.

What skill set
To have fun on this trip, you should be able to
- be sailing in footstraps and harness
- be able to get back to where you started from
You are welcome to come along with a lower skill set, however, more often than not it is fairly windy.

What to bring
You do need on this trip
- your own transport to get to and from the spots (if you choose the self-drive option)
- your own equipment (unless arranged with us)
- a bottle to have something to drink on the beach during the day
