WATER NOMADS ON TOUR

The idea is to travel the country, explore new spots and locations and connect with lots of interesting people all over the country. This should enable us to offer you new exciting surfaris with lots of insider tips. 

After leaving Auckland, our first stop was Waitotara in South Taranaki. What a fantastic place! Beautiful camping right at the beach, lovely beach community, and a great sandy beach. Some fun little waves added to the attraction, until I did get blown off the water eventually.

Next port of call down South was of course windy Wellington. We enjoyed a few days catching up with the local crew down there and sailed in Plimmerton. It wasn’t long before we hopped on the ferry and said ‘good bye’ to the North Island.

New Zealands South Island has plenty of wind, countless beaches and lakes, and hardly any people around. We were super keen to explore the coastline and go surfing, winging and windsurfing as much as we could on lesser known spots. Not without mixing it up with some seakayaking, mountainbiking or tramping though.

Marfells Beach south of Blenheim was our home for nearly a week. We had some fantastic fun windsurfing with an amazing back drop and views over to Cape Campbell.

Another highlight so far was a 3 days exploration trip in the Marlborough Sounds by sea kayak. We are sure to be back when the weather is a bit more stable!

After a week in Nelson, catching up with friends, going mountainbiking and windsurfing, we found ourselves in Golden Bay. Beautiful safe and fun windsurf conditions in Pohara Beach, just like a big skate park: Some flat bits, some ramps, beautiful water – what do you want more? Though that’s not all Golden Bay has on offer: we explored the Northern side of Able Tasman National Park around Separation Point with our seakayaks (stunning is all I can say) and spent over a week on the West Coast, hoping for some wave sailing. Untypically the West Coast was flat and not much wind for most of the time. Though I can definitely see the potential, and I’m sure we will be back. It is such an amazing part of the country!
