Taranaki Wave Classic Trip

The Taranaki Wave Classic is the biggest and oldest windsurfing event in New Zealand. With around 80 entries in the last few years and a lot of non-windsurfing partners attending, you can be sure to make new friends! And you don’t even need to be a super awesome wave sailor to participate, as this is not a competition, but rather a huge event, with everyone having fun and sharing tips. No heats, no judging, just go out and sail, surf or SUP until you drop!

If you want to bring your windsurfing or non-windsurfing partner, you’re more than welcome.

Time to stop hibernating and shake / wash those cob webs off! The water starts to warm up, spring winds deliver great conditions. Water Nomads invites all wave sailors (and those who want to get into it) to join us for an all-expenses stay in New Zealands wave sailing paradise Taranaki.

A 4 day trip where Water Nomads will spoil you with superb food, accommodation, and an introduction to the best local spots to sail. We show you how the conditions work around this infamous mountain and provide you with all the tips you ever wanted.

If you don’t have the right gear, or simply want to try something different. Maybe you wish to try the latest offerings from Severne or Starboard? Water Nomads can provide, by prior arrangement, board and gear rental on site.

Catering provided by local windsurfer and business owner, Katrin Dau – Mint Lunches

Instruction offered independently by local wave legend windsurfer, Spencer Lewis – Windsurf and Stand-up Paddle Taranaki.

Non-windsurfing partners more than welcome. There is so much to do in New Plymouth and the Taranaki area.
