What does it cost?
Prices vary, depending how long you are renting and what exactly you’re after. The longer you rent, the better the value. Plus you can add soft roof racks, surfspot guidebook and lockbox etc.
One Surfboard: making your travels affordable, saves you from excess baggage fees and those transit luggage nightmares.

Two Surfboards: traveling as a couple or, you don’t want to compromise any wave condition.

All our boards are supplied with a leash, fins or foils, and a board bag—so you’re good to go!
We recommend booking at least a month in advance to ensure we can meet your specific needs. Please note that one-way surfboard rentals, rentals outside of Auckland, and short-notice requests may incur an additional fee.

Rented a surfboard for New Zealand. My board was brand new in new bag with new leash and wax. It was size and shape I requested. They offered pick up in Christchurch and drop off in Auckland which worked great for our camper van tour. Someone even met me at camper van return site to pick up the board. Much appreciated!

I rented a Surf Board from Water Nomads in Auckland. They were very helpful at advising on where to surf and also had a guidebook and lockbox. It's hard to find a weekly rental on a high performance surfboard. This is a much better option than bringing gear on the plane. I highly recommend Water Nomads.

Sorry no, we currently do not offer surf lessons. However there are a plenty of surf schools throughout New Zealand where you can begin you surfing journey.
Once you are on you way, you can then rent from us.
Sorry no, if you are just beginning and learning to Surf you are best to continue with a few more lessons and water time on beginner soft-board gear.
Our gear is suitable from “intermediate” to “expert/pro” where you are comfortable surfing unsupervised and confident in most surf conditions.

Yes, our sweet spot is intermediate to advanced equipment (longboards, shortboards and accessories) from the world leading brands.
Water Nomads Surfboard Rental Centre does not operate out of a physical shop. This means we are not tied to a specific location. We simply work with your travel plans to offer the best place to pick-up and drop-off the gear at any major centre in New Zealand.
Sorry but New Zealand does not have specific surf resorts like other parts of the world. It’s why we are the adventure capital of the world, part of the fun is exploring, and that’s where we can help.
There are a few beach accommodation providers that offer surfboards to guests. In most instances these will be soft-boards.
